My Rainbow Wings

Dec 17, 2007

Last year, I realized that I had put my art on hold for too long. I felt as if I was bound up with my hands at my sides, and decided that if I began to paint, I would feel as free as a bird with outstretched wings. I rushed to the art shop and bought a new canvas and acrylic paints. As I painted, I felt myself come to life. At first I used a palette knife, and when I got to the face, I smeared the paint with my fingers, animating it with every smudge.

This painting represents my promise to myself to keep on rejoicing in, and being nourished by, my art and creativity.
