1. Download this small ghost brush. 2. Double-click on the .abr file. This will open Photoshop. 3. Create a new document 2400 x 1400 px wide. 4. In the Tools Palette, click on the Brush Icon. 5. Open the Brushes Palette. The Ghost Brush will be the last item there. 6. Click on “Brush Tip Shape” to the left of the palette, and adjust the Spacing to 130%. Click on the “Create New Brush” icon, then name and save the brush. 7. Select black as your foreground color, press shift, and draw a horizontal line with the ghost brush. Include 10 ghosts in the row. 8. Use a round brush with a 2-px diameter, select white as your foreground color, and scribble freely on the row of ghosts to create a distressed effect. 9. Select the row with the Marquee tool. Click on the “Create New Brush” icon on the Brushes Palette, name and save the brush. Again, click on “Brush Tip Shape”, adjust the Spacing to 130, and name and save the brush one last time. 10. Color the background black, select the Brush tool (“b” on the keyboard), and select orange as your foreground color. Paint neatly for clean patterns. Paint in crazy swirls for a more grungy feel. How to Get the Most out of a Dynamic Brush
Jan 8, 2009Here’s an image I designed yesterday with a new fractal brush. By applying dynamic brush settings, this brush was transformed into a powerful design tool. (Click on image to enlarge.)
1. Beginning with a simple photo (actually, it’s a simple shot from a cell phone),
I applied a radial blur which gave the sunrise an ethereal quality.
2. I added a Gradient Fill layer and used the Color Burn layer effect.
3.Using the new brush, I painted a horizontal line across the canvas. The wacom tablet is pressure-sensitive, so the size of the stroke thickened as the pressure increased, giving the line a very dynamic effect.
4. I then tested various layer effects and chose the Gradient Overlay. I selected a gradient color including fire colors: black, red, orange and yellow. This helped to light up the skyline in a burst of color.
5. Adding various stamp brushes (white star, doves and music notes) and dynamic brushes (twinkling stars), I scattered them on different layers and added text with various opacities and layer effects.

Tutorial and Free Blossom Brushes
Oct 5, 2008I just created a new brush set of blossoms today. Below is a tutorial on how to create this autumnal background paper.
1. Create a new photoshop document, 8×8″ or 12 x 12″.
2. Select a light color and one of the scatter brushes from the brush set.
Paint across the entire area of the page.
3. Create a new layer and with the same scatter brush, paint lightly across it with a darker color.
4. To make a more ephemeral effect, give the second layer an “Inner Glow” layer effect, using a light color.
5. Flatten your image, save the file and ENJOY!
Card for the Birth of a Baby Girl
Aug 3, 2008![]() |

My friend has just become an aunty, so I made this baby girl card for her. Congratulations, Sandra! I thought it would nice to share, so here’s a free download: print out the pdf on either A4 or US-letter size paper. The size (folded) is 13 x 13cm.
Here’s a tutorial that explains how to make the card:
1. What you need: color printout of the pdf, US-letter card stock (any color), cutting mat and knife, metal ruler and glue.
2. Using the back of the knife, score a line between the fold marks on the printout, and another line across the center of the card stock. Fold both pages.
3. Glue across the entire area of the underside of the card. Then paste the printout onto the card stock, keeping the folds of both pages as close together as possible.
4. Fold the glued papers, and cut along the edges of the card with the ruler, using the crop marks as guides.
